CS Magazine Visits Our Showroom
Chicago Social (CS) magazine came to our Hinsdale showroom to chat with Sweet William’s owner, Kristi Smith.
They talked about the challenges of running a small business in 2020 and new trends for 2021. We’ve transcribed the interview here, for your reading pleasure. Many thanks to the team over at CS magazine for their hard work writing, photographing and designing this article.
CS: What advantages do you have as a local business?
KS: Hinsdale has such a strong sense of community and we are proud to be a part of it. It is vibrant and unique, and I feel we help add character to the village. We have been a staple in town for over 29 years and have extremely loyal clients that we consider great friends and even family.
CS: What does customer service mean to you?
KS: Customer service is our number one priority. This means not only giving the highest level of personal attention but listening and hearing their story. When on buying trips, we will purchase for individuals exclusively, keeping their specific needs in mind. We love making women feel beautiful and better about themselves. There is nothing more gratifying than lifting someone’s day by tweaking a few items in their wardrobe. It’s not just about selling clothes; it’s a nurtured relationship.
CS: What exciting trends do you see for your business this fall and winter?
KS: The trends this season are expressed through menswear with a feminine flair. You will see it in the form of glen plaids, houndstooth and herringbone. We are also still in love with pops of red in all shades. Sweet William always advises our customers not to dive too deep into the trends though. Wearing too many trends at once can project the wrong statement and make one look like they are trying too hard. We feel it is important to look effortless.
CS: Please recommend three items from your store that would be perfect gifts for friends and family.
KS: Jewelry, Jewelry, Jewelry. Unless you are sure of the size to purchase, whether it be shoes or clothing, jewelry always fits.
